The vignette appears in the first edition (1797) of the Land Birds, p. 177, as well as in the introductory pages, p. xxx. The translation of the 'Grata Sume' inscription on the rock is "Thanks be to the Highest". The man is drinking from the brim of his hat. The transfer drawing is at the Natural History Society of Northumbria.
